Who Rescued who?
Posted by Rob (Velveetaville, United States) on 3 August 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.
That foot, that wonderful, fury foot. It's attached to my best friend, my mood adjuster, my listening post, my walking companion, my riding companion, my protector... my very best friend in the world, Mille.
This foot, and the dog that it is attached to, keeps me from unraveling some days. She makes me remember that caring for others is what is important and thinking about just yourself is so wrong.
So, who rescued who...? People tell me how wonderful it is that my wife and I rescue dogs. I say they rescued us.
Mille, I believe all dogs really, teach us many things. Dogs are never selfish, they don't know how to be. They aren't hurtful or vengeful in any way. They are however, very loyal and always, in some way, there for you when you need them. They may not all be the dogs we see in movies and television that rescue little Timmy from a burning building, or fend off Mountain Lions, but they all still rescue us in one way or the other, you just need to let yourself see it. So,it may not always be physically it may be emotionally and you may not notice it if you aren't paying attention but they do end up rescuing us.
Take a minute out of your busy day, take a close look at your furry friend, and then take a close look inside yourself, and see how many times that your best friend has "rescued" you. I lose count every time I try.
Cheers,
Rob
