Dear Friends at Aminus3,
I have been struggling with how to tell everyone about this so here it goes...
Max, and the rest of us, got some bad news a week back. Max has liver and spleen cancer, it's inoperable and his time here is nearing it's end. I wasn't sure if I was going to put anything up on this blog regarding Max but I figured there are a few of you who know him through my photography and also, so I am told, it helps to share your feelings.
When he arrived on our doorstep way back when, we knew he was something special. That dog, that wonderful dog, rolled out of the back seat of a Cadillac Seville and looked around as if he owned the place. He was this big white bundle of love and got lots of hugs from us and even strangers. We all got along as if we had been with each other for ever. Max, my wife Phyllis, Mille and I were meant to be together. We all seem to balance each other.
We are so very thankful for Max being sent to us and we will miss him when the time comes for him to go up to heaven. Phyllis and I have done the very best to give him the best life we could and he deserved with lots love, hugs, kisses, treats, a great yard, a sister to be with... all the things a great friend he is so deserves. We cherrish the memories we have created with Max and we savor the precious time we share each additional day we have with him.
It's all right to feel sad, but don't be sorry for him, be happy for Max. Be happy that he has had a pretty wonderful life. He was rescued from an uncertain life 8 years ago and has been quite spoiled ever sense. Be happy that he has had and continues to have so much love in his life and that he has given my wife and I so much love and happiness in return.
Dogs live in the moment so we plan on being like them during this time and taking each moment we have with him and savoring it. We will cherish each and every day as if it our last with our boy Max.
Regards,
Rob

Uncle Rob, Just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers yet again. Your post made me cry a little, he's a great dog and you can tell how safe and loved he feels. I will never forget the first time you pulled up to mom's house to introduce him to us. He pretty much took up the whole back of your car and I was amazed at how calm and gentle he was. Miss you, love you and I will see you Easter weekend. <3 Meg

@Meg: Thanks Meg, I shed a tear when I re-read this myself... so far so good. He's still being Max only sleepier and slower.
See you soon.

Thanks for sharing your story on Max with us. I am a dog lover and don't know what I'd do without my two "Goldies". Glad to see that Mille has a new friend. If only humans could love unconditionally like dogs...
