This is going to be a long winded post...
I was wondering what I could post today and was drawing a blank...
Well, then I remembered that I had one of my old 4X5 chromes scanned (I need to get a good scanner and scan more of them I guess) for a project I did a while back... have I ever mentioned I am classically trained but from the old school of film photography ;-)... that's a story for another time.
Anyway, this is an image from about 5 or 6 years ago that I shot with my old 4X5 Wood Field Camera. It is a road to a great place called the Rensselaerville Institute. The institute is a conference center with beautiful grounds in the hills above the city of Albany. I shot a wedding there one winter, it was a great wedding and wedding party. Of course, the guy I worked for and I then got snowed in... yet another story for another time too. The scan isn't the greatest and the file is only a .jpg so I couldn't do to much to clean it up. The print I have of this is much better and really big. When ever I show this print or chrome to anyone I tell them how right after I exposed the plate in my camera I met Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes (he lives somewhere around there) and how nice he is, really. I hope as our fall season comes on around here to get more recent images for you all but this will have to do for now I guess.
All right, enough, I'm rambling now.
Thanks for visiting and Cheers,
Rob

This is a beautiful shot Rob - really magnificent...whenever I try shots like this they just don't seem to have the same appeal!!!! Sorry for only visiting now - yesterday ran away with me. I'll be back on monday again to check everyone's sites from the weekend as I have 2 shoots today, a last minute one this morning and then a much anticipated wedding this afternoon....our church built a new chapel which is GORGEOUS and the couple I'm shotting this afternoon are getting married there, so I'm really hoping for some stunning shots of an awesome building.
BTW, I'm Glad you liked my sisters dog!
Blessings my friend.

@jen: Thanks Jen, I appreciate the comments.
Love the colors. All we get here in California is brown. Not exactly true, but it feels like it.
17 Sep 2007 8:47am
Thanks Seraphine, it turns brown too quickly here though...
You may not get the fall colors like we do in the north east but come on, I love the bay area. You have some of the most beautiful places around you as well. You can drive to Monterey Bay, there is napa valley, sierra nevada's coastal highway... I guess it's all on how you look at it.

Really amazing!!!!!!

Wow, that's truly stunning. And it may be my imagination, but it looks, even at this small size, like the kind of resolution that only a view camera could provide.

@Damon Schreiber: Well, I missed this comment before, sorry Damon. Yes, it was shot with a 4X5 wooden field camera on Fujifilm Velvia. Nice catch!

This is really a gorgeous shot. I can feel the approach of winter and taste the Autumn air. Really nice photograph. Weirdly, it was the first image from your portfolio that I chose and then found out you shot it with your 4x5. Must be the vibe!
