Window, Adirondack Chairs and Rain

I am always inspired by rainy days... There is piece in the sound of it hitting the roof, especially a tent roof. I was sitting out on my deck this morning having coffee during a gentle rain and the sound brought back some wonder memories. It reminded me of the days when I was young. My family would camp in the Adirondack State Park and I would always hope for a little rain at night. As I would lay in my sleeping bag, the rhythmic and gentle tap, tap, tap, of the rain on the tent would help me be drift off into a gentle slumber while thinking about the wonderful day of hiking, swimming or what have you. The sound would always put me at ease and it would always make for a wonderful rest to be ready for the next day's adventure.

I placed these chairs in my yard just so they would remind me of those days gone by so I could once again feel that piece and happiness I felt as a young boy.

Gosh I can be corny... oh well ;-)

It's gorgeous Rob and the feeling of nostalgia really comes through - the B/W works SO well for this shot, I don't think it would have quite the same impact in colour.

I ,like you, love the rain, there's something so soothing about it. We have the most WONDERFUL afternoon thunderstorms were I live...quite unlike anything you've ever experienced before!!!

Nice one bud...not corny at all! :)

What a nicely real "feel" to this shot. I like your recollection story too Rob. Rain is something I enjoy too. I can remember camping and the gentle rains that would fall at night; it can be very relaxing. But there were a couple of times the sky fell while we were in the tent; this gets a bit dicey, esp. as the lightning and thunder crashes through the mountains and hills where you're camping. Heh.

I remember my first time camping in Scotland, the rain came down in buckets all night, every night! It was a lovely feeling safe and warm under the canvass as the rain lulled us to sleep. Then in the Morning the sun would shine and we would have a beautiful day.

I slept on some of the hardest ground in my tent but it was some of the best sleep I ever had... thanks for sharing with me MB.
